Achegamos unha campaña que amosa unha sombra Triodos, unha das alternativas que están a funcionar dentro da banca ética, neste caso a voz de alarma a dan porque apoian a fundación O Belén que tendenuncias sobre o trato dado a menores de idades nos seus centros.

Deixamos a convocatoria: «Desde hace algún tiempo, Triodos Bank se presenta ante los consumidores como una alternativa financiera “ética” y responsable, que destina sus fondos a proyectos sostenibles y respetuosos.(…) Este banco financia a la Fundación Internacional O´Belén, la entidad que más denuncias por maltrato infantil acumula en España, bajo cuya custodia se han quitado la vida al menos tres niños entre 2007 y 2011. A cambio, O´Belén mantiene un depósito en Triodos Bank de 441.320 euros y probablemente también varios activos inmobiliarios.»

    Huele muy mal esta acción, lo siento, la percibo con la siguiente lógica (sin asegurar que sea intencionada)

    1. La gente está desencantada por la corrupción de la banca comercial

    2. Se ofrecen opciones de banca ética con criterios de inversión más sociales

    3. Aparecen críticas a la coherencia de la banca ética y se ataca frontalmente estas instituciones (sin molestar a la banca comercial y su corrupción)

    4. La gente se desencanta de las alternativas éticas y se mantiene en la banca comercial

    5. Las opciones éticas siguen siendo minoritarias y le representa más esfuerzo «convencer» al público

    6. La banca comercial sigue sin ser cuestionada

    La persona que promueve el boicot en Actuable sólo ha promovido una acción y sólo ha votado la misma acción, es decir, de entrada no tiene un gran perfil de «activismo público»

    Yo estuve analizando el boicot a Triodos en su momento (como cliente de ese banco me preocupa enormemente lo que haga con mi dinero) y llegué a las siguientes conclusiones:

    1- El centro trata a menores con sociopatías graves, que no es una situación fácil de manejar. Entre las cosas que critican de O’Belen se encuentra que obligan a algunos niños a tomar medicación. Esa afirmación no se sostiene por ningún lado y dudo que quien la ha hecho haya convivido con un sociópata.

    2- No hay en curso ninguna acción penal contra O’Belen.

    3- Amnistía y el Defensor del Menor criticaron la forma de proceder de O’Belen en 2009, por lo que me da que seguramente O’Belen no ha tratado a los internos como debería haber hecho. De forma que algo de verdad subyace en la acusación y O’Belen debería ser supervisado muy de cerca.

    4- O’Belen es una externalización de servicios básicos que debería prestar el Estado. En Madrid, Valencia y otras tantas comunidades cuenta con el apoyo de la Administración que es la que le concede las licencias y deriva allí a los internos. Por lo que la principal responsabilidad en supervisar los abusos denunciados recae en las administraciones públicas que, por cierto, alaban la función de O’Belen.

    5- Triodos está en una encrucijada porque no puede retirar el préstamo a O’Belen, ya que no se trata de una donación anual sino de un prestamo concedido años ha.

    6- Triodos se ha tomado la molestia de responder detalladamente a los críticos y de ir rastreando internet para hablar en aquellas web que defienden el boicot. Esto segundo no se lo he visto hacer jamás a ningún banco ante ninguna presión ciudadana.

    Resumiendo: que esto no le pasaba a Triodos si no siguiese su política de transparencia absoluta y que el hecho de que haya una presión ciudadana al respecto es un buen indicador de que el modelo que defiende este banco (hacer partícipe al cliente de todas sus decisiones de inversión) funciona. ¿Por qué nadie promueve boicots a los bancos que invierten en armamento? (no olvidemos que España es el segundo productor mundial de munición). Muy simple: Porque no nos enteramos.
